Women working in the UK’s financial services industry have faced more challenges than men during the recession, according to one expert.
This could inspire a number of female homeowners to consider an equity release plan as a way of boosting their income as the expert said juggling a job and family life has been made more difficult as a result of the economic downturn.
India Gary-Martin, president of the City Women’s Network (CWN), said: “The recession has been challenging for everyone, but CWN believes it is a greater challenge for women in financial services.
“When the economic environment requires companies to tighten their belts, longer hours and less flexibility often ensue which can be very challenging for women with families.
According to the expert, the number of female representatives on the boards of FTSE 100 banks has fallen from 13 to nine per cent in the last year.
Women aged over 55 years who are concerned about how the recession may have affected their finances can find out how the value of their property could provide them with a tax-free cash lump sum by using Key Retirement Solutions‘ equity release calculator.
